We John W. Garrett and Emily Garrett formally Emily Kizer have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Marcus L. Kizer and his heirs forever for the consideration of Two Hundred Dollars to us paid our undivided interest in the dower of Frances Kizer widow of the late John Kizer deceased in Civil District No Nine Sumner County, Tennessee and we John W. Garrett & Emily Garrett do further covenant and bind ourselves our heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said Marcus L. Kizer his heirs and assigns against claims of all persons whatever this the 29th day of December 1869.

State of Tennessee, Sumner County - Personally appeared before me Jesse Cage, D. Clerk of the County Court of said county, John W. Garrett the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged the execution of the within instrument for the purposes therein contained and also appeared Emily Garrett, wife of said John W. Garrett, the bargainer privately and apart from her said husband and acknowledged the execution of the within instrument to have been made by her freely voluntarily understandingly without compulsion or constraint from her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed.
