This indenture made the twenty second day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty between James Garrett of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and Easter commonly called Easter Garrett of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said Jas. Garrett for and in consideration fo the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Easter the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained aliened conveyed and confirmed by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said Easter Garrett her heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Sumner aforesaid on Drakes Creek of Cumberland River.  Beginning at a stake and pointer corner to Daniel Montgomery on the west bank of the Creek, thence with his line South forty five degrees West forty nine poles across the bottom to a stake at or near the foot of the hill, thence North fifty six degrees west thirty three poles to an elm on the bank of a branch thence South seventy five West eighty poles to a beech thence West still with Daniel Montgomery's line two hundred and forty six poles to a stake in corner in the old line of the original tract of which this is a part.  Hence South with said old line one hundred and eighty six poles to a stake corner to the old survey thence east with the old line one hundred and sixty poles to the Creek.  Hence down the Creek with its different meanders to the Beginning, containing by estimation two hundred and eighty acres, the same more or less.  To have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and singular rights profits emoluments hereditaments appurtenances of and in to the same belonging or in any way appertaining to the only proper use and behalf of her the said Easter Garrett her heirs and assigns forever and the said James Garrett for himself and for his heirs Ex facie doth covenant and agree to and with the said Easter her heirs or assigns that the before situated land and bargains and promises they will warrant and forever defend against the legal right title interest or claim of all and every person whatsoever.  In witness whereof the said James Garrett hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. State of Tennessee Sumner County Court May Term 1830. This deed of bargain and sale from James Garrett to Easter Garrett for two hundred & eighty acres of land was duly proved in open court by the oaths of Daniel Montgomery, Wm Montgomery two of the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be registered. A Copy Test
