George Dempsey & Polly To John Mitchell - for 17 acres of land - Deed Of Bargain
This Indenture made this 12th day of September One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fourteen between George Dempsey and Polly his wife of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and John Mitchell of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said George Dempsey and Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said John Mitchell his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing seventeen acres lying and being in the County of Sumner aforesaid on the waters of the Middle Fork of Station Camp Creek beginning at Peggy Brigances North West corner running thence South fifty four and a half poles to a stake thence West fifty two and a half poles to a stake thence North fifty four and a half poles to the beginning said land was willed to Polly Dempsey by her Father William Brigance dec'd with all and singular the woods and water courses profits commodities hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or appertaining and the revision and the revisions remainder and remainders notes and issues thereof and all the Estate right title and interest property claim and demand of us the said George Dempsey & Polly his wife and our heirs and assigns forever of in and to the same and every part or parcel thereof either in law or equity to have and to hold the said seventeen acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said John Mitchell his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful title claim and demands of all and every person or persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said George Dempsey & Polly his wife hath hereunto set our hands & seals the day and year above written.

State of Tennessee - Sumner County Court February Term 1815 - The within deed of bargain & sale between George Dempsey & Polly Dempsey of the one part & John Mitchell of the other part for 17 acres of land was duly acknowledged and the said Polly Dempsey being first examined privately and apart from her husband by Matthew Alexander a member of the Court and she having voluntarily assented to the execution of said deed wherefore said deed id ordered to be registered.
