Deed Of Bargain & Sale - 320 Acres
This Indenture made this seventh day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifteen between Charles Dement of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and James Douglass of the same County and State aforesaid of the other part: Witnesseth that the said James Douglass at or upon the delivery and assigning of these presents, the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said Charles Dement for himself his heirs doth hereby bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm with him the said James Douglass his heirs Executors and administrators forever a certain piece or parcel of land in the said County of Sumner situated lying and being as follows: (To Wit) Beginning at a White Walnut and Sugartree on John Blackmores heirs North East corner; thence East two hundred and twenty-six poles to a Sugartree; thence North two hundred and twenty-six poles to a White Oak and Dogwood; thence West two hundred and twenty-six poles to a stake; thence South two hundred and twenty-six poles to the beginning which said piece or parcel of land with all ways woods waters, and every other appurtenance thereunto belonging or appertaining the said Charles Dement for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators hath hereby sold set over conveyed released and confirmed in open market to the said James Douglass his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns and the said Charles Dement his heirs Executors and assigns doth hereby covenant and promise to and with the said James Douglass his heirs & etc. to warrant and forever defect the said piece or parcel of land as above described with all and every of its members and appurtenances free from all lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever unto the said James Douglass his heirs Executors & etc. forever. State of Tennessee - Sumner County Court February Term 1816 - The within deed of bargain & sale between Charles Dement of the one part & James Douglass of the other part for 320 acres of land was duly proved in open Court by the oaths of James Douglass & Wm. Richardson subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be registered.
