William M. Briggs to Jordan P. Coleman - 1842

State of Tennessee - Sumner County - I William M. Briggs of the county and state aforesaid have this day for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid bargained and sold and do hereby transfer convey to Jordan P. Coleman of the county & state aforesaid a certain lot in the town of Gallatin known and designated in South Gallatin as lot No. 106 also I have transferred to said Coleman a Lease upon a Town lot in the Town of Gallatin which I leased from William Pyle for nine years commencing on the 1st day of January 1839 I now transfer the said lease to said Coleman for the remaining seven years as I have had possession of the same for two years for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me paid. To have and to hold the same to the said Coleman his heirs assignees and I William M. Briggs doth covenant with said Coleman that I am lawfully seized of said lot & lease have a good right to convey them and that the same are unencumbered. I further covenant and bind myself my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the titles of the same against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever. State of Tennessee - Sumner County - Personally appeared before me Wm. S. Munday, Clerk of the County Court of said county, William M. Briggs the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he made and executed the foregoing Deed for the purposes therein contained. Witness my hand at office this 25th October 1842. Wm. S. Munday, Clerk
