George & S. J. Branham

For and in consideration of the sum of Eight dollars ($8.00) to us in hand paid the receipt of which is ack., we George Branham and wife S. J. Branham do this day deed and transfer, and convey to B. F Cooper & wife M. S. Cooper a certain parcel of land lying in Sumner County, State of Tenn. in Civil District No. 10 on the head waters of Dry Fork Creek and bounded as follows:  Beginning at a small hickory running S 4 E 16 poles to stone, Thence N. 54 E 27 poles to stone, near spring; Thence N 45 3/4 degrees E 3 poles & 15 links to white oak; Thence west 24 poles 11 links to the beginning containing by Estimation 2 1/2 acres be the same more or less to have and to hold to the said B. F. Cooper & wife M. S. Cooper or their heirs or assigns forever.  We covenant with said B. F. Cooper & wife that we are lawfully seized of said land hve a good right to convey it and it is unencumbered.  We covenant and bind ourselves and our heirs to warrant and defend the title to said land to the Cooper and wife or their heirs & assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.
In witness whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals,

Personally appeared before me, Jno. W. Reddick, a Notary Public in and for said county and State the within named George Branham & wife S. J. Branham the bargainors with whom I am personally acquainted, and who acknowledged that they executed the within written instrument for the purposes therein contained.  And S. J. Branham, wife of the said George Branham, having personally appeared before me, privately and apart from her husband, the said S. J. Branham acknolwedged the execution of said Deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion or constraint from her said husband, and for the purposes therein expressed.  Witness my hand and official seal at ----- Tennessee, This 27 day of Aug. 1901.
