fifty
Sumner County } dollars, Seven hundred
dollars of which
is paid the receipt of which is acknowledged and balance in two equal notes,
1st note for Seventy five dollars due 25th day of Dec. 1889 - 2nd and last
note for Seventy five dollars due 25th day of Dec. 1890. We G. L. Belcher
and wife L. M. Belcher have this day bargained, Sold, released and do by
these presents transfer and convey unto S. H. Briley his heirs and assigns
a certain tract of land Situated by and being in 16th Civil District of the
aforesaid county and State, and bounded as follows, Beginning at a poplar
Chas. Harveys corner in the Harris line thence N. 103 P to a Black oak, thence
W. 23 P. to a Black oak thence N 15 1/2 P. to a Black oak thence W 80 1/2
P. to a rock Mrs. E. B. Austins N. E. corner, thence S. 220 1/2 P. to a black
rock Mrs. E. B. Austins N. E. corner, thence S. 220 1/2 P. to a black gum
thence East to Harris SW corner, thence N with the Harris line to a rock
near the branch Harris N. W. corner, thence E 39 1/2 poles to the beginning,
containing one hundred and three acres but three acres of this Survey lying
on the S.W. Boundary belong to j. D. Harris, leaving to the said S. H. Briley
100 acres, To have and to hold to the said S. H. Briley his heirs and assigns
forever. We covenant with the said Briley that we are lawfully seized
of said land, that it is not encumbered and the legal title is in us and
we bind ourselves, our heirs, and assigns to warrant and forever defend the
title in Said land to the Said S. H. Briley his heirs and assigns against
the legal claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof we
set out hand respectfully this Oct. 30th 1888.

W. T. McGlothlin N. P. in and for said county and State, G. L. Belcher bargainor
with whom i am personally acquainted, and acknowledged the execution of the
annexed Deed for the purposes therein expressed. Also Mrs. L. M. Belcher
wife of G. L. Belcher who having said deed read and Explained to her privately
and apart from her husband acknowledged the execution of the same by her
freely, voluntarily and understandingly without constraint or compulsion
by her said husband and for the purposes therein expressed. Given under
my hand and notarial Seal. Oct. 30th 1888.
