T. P. Ackerman to G. W. Allen, 1869

I T. P. Ackerman have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to G. W. Allen for the sum of five dollars to me paid and the other cause durations hereinafter mentioned a tract or parcel of land in the State of Tennessee Sumner County and District No. 7 containing by estimation one acre and one half acre and bounded as follows on the West by the lands of C. Clendening on the South by the Gallatin & Nashville Turnpike on the East by the Road on the West bank of Drakes Creek and on the North by the lands of Lee Shute being the same land conveyed to me by R. M. Kirkwood. And I covenant to warrant and defend the title to said land to said G. W. Allen against lawful claims of all persons. But this deed is made for the following uses and trust and for no other purposes that is to say I am indebted to Harry Smith by note for $900 dated this day and due 12 months after date with interest from date. Now if I should pay the said note on the 28 day of December 1870 then this deed to be void but if I should not then the said G. W. Allen as trustee after giving ten days notice in writing may expose said land to public sale and sell it to the highest bidder for cash without the equity of redemption and approiate the proceeds first to the payment of the expenses & cost of this tract secondly to the satisfaction of said note of $900 and interest to Harry Smith and thirdly the balance to me, this the 28th day of December 1869.
