County Court, Sumner County, June Term, 1883, Pages 106 & 107


The honorable County Court of Sumner County met pursuant to adjournment, present and presiding, Hon. Lee Head, chairman when the following proceedings were held to wit:

The Clerk presented a settlement made with T. H. Elam, guardian of Irene Brown, a woman of unsound mind, which is ordered to be recorded, wherefore said T. H. Elam, asked to be permitted to resign said guardianship which is by the Court granted & he is deemed of any further liability as guardian of said Irene Brown.

Ordered by the Court that Thomas Brown be appointed guardian of Irene Brown, a woman of unsound mind, in the room and stead of T. H. Elam, resigned, therefore came Thomas Brown into open Court and entered into and acknowledged his bond to the State of Tennessee together with his sureties, E. Pickle and G. W. Collier, in the penal sum of five hundred dollars, conditioned as the law requires, and said Thomas Brown, as guardian aforesaid was duly qualified, and the Clerk ordered to issue him Letters of Guardianship.

The Clerk presented inventory by J. R. Dorris, Administrator of William Dorris dec'd of personal estate of the intestate which was ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk presented inventory of the personal estate and account of sale of Samuel Briley dec'd by W. N. Warren Administrator, which is ordered to be recorded.

Nothing further appearing Court adjourned until Wednesday 6th day June 1883. Lee Head, Chairman

The Honorable County Court of Sumner County met pursuant to adjournment Wednesday 6th day of June 1883, present & presiding, Hon. Lee Head, Chairman when the following proceedings were held to wit:

Ordered by the Court that L. B. Moody, be appointed Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels, debts, & credits of Susan Mason dec'd, therefore came said L. B. Moody into open Court together with his sureties James Pearson and J. F. Gray, and entered into and acknowledged their bond to the State of Tennessee in the penal sum of two hundred dollars conditioned as the law requires and said L. B. Moody as Administrator aforesaid was duly qualified, and the Clerk is ordered to issue to him Letters of Administration.

Nothing further appearing Court adjourned until Saturday 9th day of Jun 1883. Lee Head, Chairman

The Honorable County Court of Sumner County met pursuant to adjournment Saturday 9th day of June 1883, present and presiding, Honorable Lee Head, Chairman when the following proceedings were held to Wit:

It appearing to the Court, that M. B. Perdue on the 19th day of May 1883, filed his petition in this Court, asking to be relieved from his securityship, on the bond given by W. W. Perdue as Administrator of D. G. Perdue, and it appearing to the Court that M. B. Perdue had given notice in writing to W. W. Perdue, that he would apply to the County Court of Sumner County on the 2nd day of June 1883, and ask that he M. B. Perdue, be released and relieved from any further liability as surety on the bond given by W. W. Perdue as Administrator of D. G. Perdue, and that W. W. Perdue, be compelled to give other sufficient security in place of M. B. Perdue on said bond, and it appearing that said notice was served on W. W. Perdue, on the 22nd day of May 1883, and said petitioner and said W. W. Perdue having appeared in open Court on the 2nd day of June 1883, and by consent continued the application over to the 9th day of June 1883. It was ordered by the Court that W. W. Perdue give other sufficient security in the room and stead of M. B. Perdue, on the bond of said W. W. Perdue, as Administrator of D. G. Perdue, and then Miss M. E. Perdue, Miss S. A. Perdue, C. B. Dinning, and G. J. Brown, appeared in open Court and signed the bond heretofore given by W. W. Perdue, as Administrator of D. G. Perdue, and acknowledged themselves bound on the same and the said bond was approved by the Court. It is therefore ordered by the Court that M. B. Perdue be released from any further liability as surety on the bond of W. W. Perdue, Administrator of D. G. Perdue.
