John D. Bennett vs. Elizabeth Stovall

(Note: Bennett is referred to as John, James, and J. D. in this motion.)


This day came the Plaintiff by his attorney & filed in Open Court the following proceedings had before a Justice of the Peace to wit State of Tennessee Sumner County To any lawful officer to Execute and return You are hereby commanded to summon Elizabeth Stovall to appear before some Justice of the Peace for said County to answer James D. Bennett in a plea of debt due by amount for Sixteen Dollars & eighty two cents. Given under my hand & Seal this 15th day of June 1843.

I give Judgment against Defendant for Sixteen Dollars 82 Cents with Interest from 1st January 1843 & cost tis 13th day of June 1843.

To any lawful officer to execute and return

You are hereby commanded that of the goods and chattels lands and tenements of Elizabeth Stovall if to be found in your County you cause to be made the sum of Sixteen Dollars 82 cents with interest and legal costs to satisfy a judgment that J.D. Bennett obtained against said Elizabeth Stovall before me on the 15th day of June 1843. Given under my hand and Seal this 17th day of

there is no personal property in my county to satisfy this Execution then levied the 17th day of June 1843 on one tract of land supposed to be forty acres more or less in District No. 14 adjoining the lands of W. D. Austin & others levied on as the property of Elizabeth Stovall for the benefit of James D.
