    Proudfoot, Andrew (b. ABT 1700, d. ?)
Note: The common ancestor of the famly in America was Andrew Proudfoot who was born in Scotland about 1700. He was married twice. There were four sons and two daughters by the first wife. Andrew and James came to America in 1754 and Robert and David who came in 1759. They settled in York Co , Pennsylvania. Two names are possibilities for the first and second wifes: Janet Prop and Elizabeth Peebles. Andrew's brother, James' descendents named a child Hugh Peebles Proudfit. However, this still could have been a naming for a stepgrandmother rather than a grandmother.

    Proudfoot, Andrew (b. 1728, d. 30 MAR 1807)
Note: Andrew came to America in Sept, 1754 with brother, James arriving in Boston. Later Robert and David came in 1759. Andrew enlisted in Lieut, McKissick"s Co, 6th, batallion of militia of York Co, Pennsylvania (American Historical Society, Vol I, page 269) was called out July 7th, 1776, assembled at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, marched to Philadelphia, thence to Trenton N.J. and Perth Amboy.

Compton's Proudfit Family History gives date of birth as 1732.

McAlister cemetery located off Lentz Rd due east of Crossroads near School Road intersection. In August, 2001 located at end of long driveway to trailer home. Then a walk through a cornfield to a small wooded area where the graves are located a few steps inside. (G or F9 )on map-original street map near Rambo Run creek and Muddy creek convergence.[G7 & J7] Guided to location by J.Nelson Cross. Also mentioned in Cemetery records of York Co Historical Society file # 726-184. Owner Terry Frey,125 Country Club Rd. Red Lion, Pa,17356, phone # 717-244-1795, store-Lion Pharmacy- 717-244-4450.

Proudfoot Point-name on original warrant survey map for Proudfit homestead. Hiverly Survey Map 22-East Hopewell Twp, York Co.,Pa . Located on Coal Rd near Brenmon Rd near Crossroads.[A10 on city map] The log cabin is still in fairly good condition in August, 2001. It has a tin roof and is covered with siding but there still is a huge stone chimney on the side. An upper story window on the side has 3 panes which is most unusual and a good identifier. This building is being used as a storage area and barn. The inside is in good condition except the main living area where the floor has fallen into the floor below. The planks are still there. The building 's colonial origin is still readily apparent on the inside as confirmed by historical expert from Historical Society. The original blacksmith hinges on the doors, the saw marks on the planking, etc. The building is extremily close to the narrow road and across the road is an old victorian 2/3story house that is also neglected. The two buildings are owned by the Hyson family related to the {old} Wallace family and are rental property. See picture.

Also see Wallace-Cross Mill historical site on Nat'l registry list built in same time frame and owned by Wallace family. Andrew's father-in-law or brother-in-law.?
