Monday, 9th June of 1788 examined the Fishery at Prospect

1 & 9 Dennis Meagher, these were one island of Rocks until four years ago. The sea made a fair breach thro'  Family & hired men.
 
 3 Purchased by Dennis Meagher of Beamish and is now settled by his son-in-law Whalon [25] Includes 1 & 9

11 Richard Mullins, wife and 7 children employs 6 hands in the fishery, has been settled 12 years has no license or authority whatever [15]

8  No inhabitants or improvement

12 This occupied by Sherlocks People for three years past have no license 10 hands [10]

13 Maurice Poor neither wife or children, years has been settled 5 employs 8 men [9]

14 Roger & Peter Poor Wife, 2 children employ 18 hands has a license [23]

15 James Cooling no license 4 hands [5]

16 John Millea Wife, 1 child carries on the fishery for Bate (bait) very poor [3]

7 is divided into two island has 7 fish stages David Redmans, Fitzerald, John Dollard, Edward Welsh ,John Neal Duggans occupied by Mullins and one laid out for John Earley
 67 People Fishermen and shoresmen [67]

10 Tim Mullins 16 hands 8 in family (?) [24]

2 Wm. Herring wife 6 children four boats 8 fishermen and five shoresmen 21 in all [21]

Note: By comparing the content of this 1788 document with the map "Old Plan of Prospect", it is evident that Prospect at that time consisted of an area from approximately Dover to Lower Prospect. The numbers before the narratives are location numbers on that map and those in brackets are the numbers of persons at each location. Punctuation is exactly the same as on the original document.
