In 1850, the Friedmann family opened a Textile business in Sternberg (now Šternberk), Czechoslovakia. From about 1863-1909, they lived and ran the business from the current Post Office building. In 1886, the Friedmann's built a new, larger Factory on Nádražní 6 street (now sídliště Nádražní), employing abt. 400 people *see Friedmann factory under Stories
