birth of their child. Five days after the birth, I was adopted by J.Hollis and Ruth Harmon in Ashtabula, OH. Glenn Beardsley was a nature lover, and his work showed his love of a animals, children, and the land. He was the supervisor of Highbrook Lodge, which was located south of Chardon, OH. It was a camp for the blind which was owned by Cleveland Ins. For the Blind. He lived there year-round with his second wife, Winifred. He was also groundskeeper for Punderson State Park which was nearby. He taught forestry to boys working during the summer months. He and Winifred had many animals they nursed and cared for, including bear, deer, foxes, birds, etc. He also had a passion for cactus, and taught himself Latin and German so he could read the man y books he found on the subject. After his death Winifred donated th ese books, many of which were collector's items, to the Cleveland Bot anical Gardens Library at Western Reserve. He was also interested in Indian History, and on a trip out west collected artifacts and talked with many native Americans. He believed he was 1\16th Indian, and it is possible that Sylvia Town Cutler Beardsley, his grandmother, was part Indian. Glenn is burie d on Cemetery Road near Lulu Falls where he played as a boy in Kingsville, OH. The tree near his grave was a grafted tree which he had given a frien d.
