13. Matthew Joseph "Poppy"⁴ Connahan Sr (John³ Connachan, Hugh², Manus¹) was born in Bathgate, West Lothian Co., Scotland June 22, 1916.

He married Margaret Mary "Bigmom" Barry in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey, April 10, 1942. Margaret was born in New Jersey August 19, 1920. Margaret was the daughter of Joseph Timothy Barry and Mary J. "Nana Barry" Davern. Margaret died September 16, 1996 in Sarasota, Sarasota Co., Florida, at 76 years of age. Her body was interred September 19, 1996 in North Arlington, Bergen Co., New Jersey.

Matthew was a relative of immigrant John Connachan October 23, 1923. According to the Ellis Island records, John Connachan and his family arrived in America aboard the ship "Columbia". Their destination was 229 Blvd., Bayonne, New Jersey where his sister Mary (Connachan) Johnston was living. His next nearest relative was his brother Hugh Connachan in Bathgate, Scotland.

Matthew Joseph "Poppy" Connahan Sr and Margaret Mary "Bigmom" Barry had the following children:

18 i. Janice Mary⁵ Connahan was born in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey September 10, 1946. She married Frank Hoffmann in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey, May 22, 1971. Frank was born April 20, 1946. (See Frank Hoffmann for the continuation of this line.)

19 ii. Margaret Mary "Ra" Connahan was born in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey February 4, 1948. She married Larry Glenn Popham in Parlin, Middlesex Co., New Jersey, February 21, 1965. Larry was born in Canton, Cherokee Co., Georgia January 10, 1944. Larry is the son of Bertha Popham. (See Larry Glenn Popham for the continuation of this line.)

20 iii. Patricia Mary Connahan was born in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey March 16, 1949. She married Kevin Callahan in Jersey City, Hudson Co., New Jersey, December 12, 1971. Kevin was born June 10, 1947. Kevin is the son of Leo Callahan and Rosemary Gerrity. (See Kevin Callahan for the continuation of this line.)
