NOTES: According to Uncle Vol's daughters Charlene and Wanda Lee, Frank is their Uncle and the son of Anna Susan Davis Floyd. His father might have been Miles Penninger no one seems to know for sure. Uncle Vol Floyd went and worked for him for awhile over in Harrisburg, Illinois.

MARRIAGE RECORDS: John's marriage license says he was from Cottage Grove and he was 22 years old and born in Illinois. That his father is Lewis Durfee and his mother is ? Parker. The witnesses to his marriage were E. J. Yates, and J. S. W. Rose, and they were married by A. Y. Yates M. G. (film #965054)

DEATH RECORDS: His death certificate says he died at home in Cottage Grove. He was a farmer and was 76 years old. His daughter Anna Lee Durfee Davis was the informant. She lived in Harrisburg. He died of Acute Conjestive Heart Failure after a 13 days of onset. His funeral was taken care of by the Gibbons Funeral Home in Harrisburg.

OBITUARY: J. Frank Durfee, 76, a farmer of the Big Ridge community, died in his home at 6:30 a.m. Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, two half-brothers and four half-sisters, and his daughter, Mrs. George (Anna Lee) Davis, of Harrisburg. He was very active in church and civic and farm life and served as a member of the board of directors of the Farm Bureau for several years. He was a member of Harrisburg Lodge 325 A. F. and A. M. and of the I. O. O. F. His church membership was in the Big Ridge Baptist Church where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday. The Rev. Clifford Burchett will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Masonic rites will be observed. The body is in the care of the Gibbons funeral home and will be taken to the family home to lie in state until the funeral. (The 2 half-brothers were Volentine and Luther FLOYD and the 4 half-sisters were Eliza, Amy, Telia and Sarah FLOYD.)

William S. CAMPBELL Sr.

MILITARY RECORDS: Enlisted 9 Jan 1862 as a Private in Company K, 6th Illinois Cavalry from Hamilton County, Illinois in the Union Army during the Civil War and died in 1864. The records does not say weather killed or died of disease, but the following records tell how many men were lost from this regiment. Regiment lost during service 5 Officers and 60 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 8 Officers and 328 Enlisted men by disease.

NOTES: She either died in childbirth or from drowning, or from a snakebite. All three stories have been told. She also has been recorded as being buried at Dobbs Cemetery with a son that died when she did.
