Anthony STOREY

HISTORY: Notes for Anthony Storey: The family Storey-Published by William M. Storey 1955
Anthony Storey was born in 1746, five years before his father moved to Fairforest, South Carolinia. Therefore we do not have a record of his birthplace. By deduction we know that it was probably Augusta County, Virginia. Anthony served in the Revolution War in Capt. Robert Farris Company, Col. Thomas Brandon's Regiment, as a private Horseman, from 18 December 1780 to 4 May 1781 (Record No X1302, Historical Commission of South Carolinia). He also served in the military before the fall of Charleston (Record No X3135). One family record also states that he was seriously wounded during the war, and this might account for his early death in 1783. His estate settlement is listed in the records of the Old 96th District at Abbeville, SouthCarolinia. It is as follows: "Anthony Storey Estate Administered 12 September 1783 by Sarah George, Henry Storey and Robert Farris unto John Thomas Jr.
Ordinary Inventory made 30 September 1783 by Hugh Means, William Patton and Robert Farris,
Sale 20 October 1783; Buyers were Sarah, George Jr., John, George Sr., Henry Storey, Hugh Means, and William Elder. Why Anthony children's were cut out of will by their grandfather, with $2.00 is a mystery. Perhaps an explantion would be that they were grown men at the time of his death and perhaps he had helped rear them.

PROBATE RECORDS: His father George Storey left the following to him: 7thly I give and bequeath unto the heirs of my son Anthony Story, deceased, the sum of two dollars.
