Sarah ELDER, in a weakly condition but of perfect mind and memory. Recommend soul to hands of Almighty God and body to earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial. Debts to be paid. To Milan ELDER, my black man, his freedom without control, also title and claim of a mare name Phinix gray and two cows called Stranger and Chain, and all his farming utensils and cooper tools, feather bed and furniture consisting of two sheets, two pillows, two blankets, and one quilt, and the colt of a mare named Dimond. To loving sister Mary KENNEDY, mare named Dimond and $80. To niece Catharine ELDER, small cupboard and $40. To nephew David WOODSIDE, $50. To five orphan children of Samuel ELDER, dec'd, $10 each. To Milam ELDER, $75. To nephew John ELDER Senior, $12. Remainder, after goods and black man Ben sold, to be divided to the bequests made to the above white legatees. To the rest of lawful heirs, twenty five cents. Appoint Andrew STEPHENSON or STINSON Junior Senior (sic), executor. Signed: Sarah ELDER. Wit: George MAYES, George T. MAYES. Dated 25 May 1835. Produced in open court 5 Oct 1835 and proven by oaths of George MAYES and George T MAYES. (Mary Kennedy was really her sister-in-law, I believe.)

CEMETERY RECORDS: Cemetery records say she died 25 May 1835, but that is when her Will was written, unless she died the same day.

She died at Lourdes Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the age of 82 of cancer. She was Crittenden County Circuit Court Clerk from 1964 to 1982. She had 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren when she died.
