BURNA, Ky. James G. Gilland, 66, died Oct. 7, 2004 at his home. He was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge, Steelworkers Union #1014 and was retired from U.S. Steel after 32 years. Funeral services were Oct. 10 at Maranatha Baptist Church. Rev. Don Guess officiated. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Katie C. Gilland of Burna; two daughters, Pamela J. Richard of Hobard, Ind., and Michelle L. Mitchell of Murray; two sons, James G. Gilland, Jr., of Valparaiso, Ind., and Brian Mitchell of Olive Branch, Miss.; four sisters, Rebecca Stallion and Doris Dameron, both of Marion, Patsy Wiggins of Burna and Lois Millikan of Rosiclare, Ill.; a brother, Harold Gilland of Rosiclare; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Gilland and his parents, Coy Brian and Mary Davidson Gilland. NOTES: He was 42 in 1930, living in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa living in the household of his father-in-law John B. Barnes. This was the last known place he was in. He was working as an electric welder in a steel wheel plant.
