Sgt. Jonathan Allen JACOBS

He was 16 in 1850. He was 25 in 1860. He was 36 in 1870. He was 46 in 1880.

MILITARY RECORDS: Jonathan Allen Jacobs, together with some other men, crossed the Ohio River and joined the 48th Illinois Infantry Company E as a private on 14 Sep 1861. He was mustered out as a sergeant on 15 Aug 1865 in Little Rock, Arkansas. In the Civil War records he is shown as John A. Jacobs. (Info received from Darlene Van Dyke a descendant 15 Aug 2002.)


Mary Lavinia CRIDER

There is a Mary Crider age 10 living with a Turley family in Caldwell County in 1850. Right before she is listed with this family it says "The estate of D. W. Crider deceased". She was 24 in 1860. She was 40 in 1880.

She was a widow woman when she married Jonathan Jacobs. She had been married to a Silas Dollar first.

She had false teeth and smoke a clay pipe according to a descendant.


Silas DOLLAR

He was 33 in 1860.
