MILITARY RECORDS: Civil War, Union Army, mustered in 9 Sep 1864 at Saint Joseph, Missouri in Company J, 44th Missouri Infantry Regiment claiming to be 35 years of age. On 15 Aug 1865 he was reported missing in action during the battle of Franklin, Tennessee. He was taken to Andersonville Prisoner of War Camp where he died of exposure, starvation and diarrhea and was buried on the last row. His last name at Andersonville was also recorded as BATES.

He was 37 in 1900 and said he had been married for 12 years and was living at Dyer's Hill in Livingston County, Kentucky.

He was 47 and widowed in 1910 living on Hampton Road in Livingston County, Kentucky.

Jessie FOSTER

She was 18 in 1880.

She was 38 in 1900 and said she was the mother of 3 children and all 3 were still living.


Sergeant Willis C. HARDY

CENSUS RECORDS: He was 26 in 1850 living in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

CENSUS RECORDS: He was 38 in 1860 living in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

MILITARY RECORDS: He was killed during the Civil War while serving with General Nathan Bedford Forrest. He was a Sergeant in Company E, 7th Tennessee Cavalry Regment under Major General Forrest. He was killed in the battle of Tishomingo Creek, Mississippi which took place on June 10 & 11, 1864.


Margaret FORD

She was the mother of 10 children.
