He was 1 in 1850.

He had a guardian appointed in August 1852, because he was a minor heir of Elias Jones, deceased.

He was 11 in 1860 and was attending school.

NEWSPAPER ABSTRACTS: Crittenden Press, 16 July 1896, Alex Jones was in town yesterday. He has not fully recovered from an electric shock received a few days ago. The lightning struck his house and the inmates. Mr. Jones, his wife and two daughters were all knocked down. Mr. Jones was nearest to the wall where the lightning struck and sustained the heaviest shock. It was 15 minutes before he knew anything and 4 hours before he could move.

He was 52 in 1900.

He was 72 in 1920 and could read and write and was a farmer. The census says both his parents were born in North Carolina.

DEATH RECORDS: His tombstone says he was born in 1847. But I believe it was 1849, as he was only one in 1850 and 11 in 1860. I sent for his death certificate on 3 Sep 1998. Received his death certificate 22 Sep 1998. It says he died at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 16 days and that he was born 6 June 1847. His son Dallas W. Jones was the informant. His parents names were not known. He died of broncoho pneumonia following influenza. He had been sick about 13 days. He died around 12:30 P.M. at home. He was living in Levias, in Union Precinct, in Crittenden County when he died.


Harriett A. SWEARINGAIN

She was 8 months old in 1850.

She was 9 in 1860.

She was 28 in 1880

She was 48 in 1900 and said she had 11 children but only 7 still living.

She was 58 in 1910 and said she had 9 children but only 7 still living.

She was 68 in 1920.

She was 81 in 1930 living with her son Hick.

There is no death date on her tombstone.


Sidney J. JONES

He was 8 in 1880.

He was 29 in 1900.

He was 39 in 1910.

He was 49 in 1920.

He was 60 in 1930.

He was 77 years old when he died according to death record.

Mamaw (Daisy Loftis Fraley) said she didn't think he ever married.


Elijah A. JONES

He was 6 in 1880.


George E. JONES

He died of brain fever at the age of 6 months.


Ida Lee JONES

She was 1 in 1880.

She was 20 in 1900, single and still at home.

She maybe the only one that ever married of her brothers and sisters.


Robert Jackson JONES

He was 19 in 1900.

He was 29 in 1910.

He was 39 in 1920.

He was 50 in 1930.

Mamaw (Daisy Loftis Fraley) said she didn't think he ever married.


Hickman C. JONES

He was 15 in 1900.

He was 22 in 1910.

He was 31 in 1920 and was still living at home and still single.

He was 45 in 1930 and his mother and 2 brothers and 2 sisters are living with him.

Hick, Dallas and his Daddy could both read and write but no one else in the family could. Mamaw (Daisy Loftis Fraley) said he never married. He took care of his two sisters Mamie and Etta till the day they died. According to Mamaw, they were real slow probably mental retarded. He had promised his mom he would take care of them. Mamaw said he was a real sweet man.


Mary Etta JONES

She was 12 in 1900.

She was 20 in 1910.

She was 30 in 1920.

She was 40 in 1930.

Her brother Hick took care of her after their mother died. Mary was apparently mentally handicapped.


Mamie Ethel JONES

She was 10 in 1900.

She was 18 in 1910.

She was 27 in 1920.

She was 38 in 1930.

Her brother Hick took care of her after their mother died. Mamie was apparently mentally handicapped.

SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX: Her SSN#401-68-6331 was issued in Kentucky.

All she has for a tombstone is a little metal funeral marker by her parents.


Dallas W. JONES

He was 6 in 1900.

He was 16 in 1910 and he could read & write.

He was not at home in 1920.

I believe he is the one nicknamed Too Smart, because he was so much brighter then the rest of the family. Mamaw (Daisy Loftis Fraley), said he left Kentucky and the last she heard he had just about become a millionaire. He would send money to Hick to help take care of the sisters. He was the informant on his father's death certificate and said that he lived in Salem, Kentucky.

He was age 35 when he died according to death records.


Martha E. ELDER

She was 3 in 1860.

She was 13 in 1870.


William Hughie WIGGINS

He was 3 in 1910.
