NOTES: From Libbie GRIFFIN: Preston DUDLEY married Philip's sister, Mary Ann. This is the last mention of Philip in the Pittsylvania Tax Records. He went to Kentucky ca. 1811. He probably linked up with his Uncle Ambrose DOSS, and with the THURMAN family once he was in Kentucky, but we don't know that. Ann (THURMAN) DOSS, his step-grandmother, and her younger daughters moved to Kentucky ca. 1811; perhaps they went together. I found a record in the Pittsylvania court records of Philip and Zacheus serving on a jury on the day that James Jr's case against Nathan THURMAN was heard. This is further evidence that Philip was the son of James Jr. I also believe the fact that Lavinia named a son Philip V. about the time this Philip died is further evidence that he was her brother, and the son of James Jr. His name was probably Philip Valorious, as Valorious is the name of several other DOSS's, mostly combined with Philip.
She was 8 in 1880.
