Brides father Henry C. Wheeler gave consent when she married Edward Ashley.

Married by Alexander Rankin at Isaac Wheeler's home and witnesses were: Washington Elder and Isaac Wheeler.

She was 33 in 1870.

She was living until at least 1904 with her son Monroe Magures in Forreston, Ellis County, Texas. One family member a daughter of Monroe states that Mary Elizabeth married again after 1904 and moved to Missouri and may have died there. But they have not been able to find that out for sure.

James F. MAGURES

The last name is pronounced MAJORS and is often found spelled that way. James died of pneumonia after walking through a snow storm to get a doctor for a friend who was sick. The friend lived and he did not. (This story told by Thelma Magures Phillips at email: TCMagures@aol.com)
