The WILL, of David Freeman is on microfilm in the "Core Collection" in the Mecklenburg Library in Charlotte. From the will one gets a strong impression that David owned a lot of land. He wrote of a plantation "on the waggon road from Charlotte and the Tuckasegee Fords on the Catawba." David married twice his first wife was Mary ?? who was born in 1743 and died 13 Feb 1779 at the age of 36 years. David's WILL, dated 20 Feb 1806 reads, "To my beloved wife Jane all my personal estate, also my Mansion house with all outer buildings except those occupied by my son James Freeman." To sons Michael and Rueben and to his daughters Sarah Bigham, Jane Berryhill, and Jemimah Stephenson he left 10 shillings, coin, each. Step-daughter Elizabeth Hayes, wife of John Hayes received all the land on the Catawba River that lies on the north side of the wagon road.
