Martha Ann BISHOP

She was 26 in 1880. She was 46 in 1900 the mother of 15 children but only 14 were still living. She says she was born in Missouri and so were both her parents.

Her tombstone says she was the mother of 15 children 9 boys and 6 girls.


Joetta Ann FRALA

She was 10 in 1880 and had attended school for two months.


Alexander FRALA

He is the only child of the 15 that died young.

He was 15 in 1900 working as a farm laborer.

Colonel John WASHINGTON

John is the great-grandfather of George Washington the first president of the United States. He was a pioneer settler of the Northern Neck (the area between the Potomac and the Rappahannock rivers). He established himself along the lower Potomac in Westmoreland County about 1657. In 1674, John and Nicholas Spencer were granted 5000 acres of land along the upper Potomac, between Dogue and Little Hunting Creeks, by Thomas, Lord Culpepper, proprietor of the Northern Neck under dispensation of his patron, King Charles II. Part of this plantation later became Mount Vernon the home of George Washington.
