Mr. Sternberg was born in 1964 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
His father's mother was born in Gross Wittfelde, County Schlochau, and grew up in Flötenstein. His father's father was born in Neuguth, Schlochau.
The purchase of a computer in 1998 led to an interest in Genealogy. At that time, there was no information about Schlochau on the internet except for a few references to it in the Versailles Treaty. Cousins from Germany attended a family reunion in Minnesota the same year and got him in touch with their mother, who was born in Hammerstein, raised in Baldenburg, and schooled in Preussisch Friedland.
After waiting two years, there was still no information to be found
about Schlochau. So he decided to create his own website. He has made three research trips to Schlochau.
Mr. Sternberg is a past president of the Germanic Genealogy Society of Minnesota and past president of the Pommern Regional Group of Minnesota. Currently he is their webmaster: www.rootsweb.com/~mnprgm/PRG.html
