Gross Peterkau existed already in 1313, when it belonged to the
Stolper Land. In the 1400's it was a manorial village and was part
of the parish in nearby Briesen. The present stone and brick church
probably dates to the late 1400's. In the 1600's a chapel was built
here, which was extensively remodeled in the 1800's. In 1608 Peter
Gotberg, the son of a Stargard goldsmith, purchased the village. He
served in the Swedish, Polish and Imperial German armies, and was
commandant of Lauenburg, and ducal delegate to the king of Poland.
Johann Gottlieb von Massow became the owner of Gross Peterkau in
1802 and drained the village lake in 1804. In 1882 there was a
catastrophic crop failure, which caused 10 local families to

Gross Peterkau existierte schon in 1313, als es zum Stolper Land
gehörte. In den 1400 war es ein herrschaftliches Dorf und war Teil
des Pfarrbezirkes in nahegelegenem Briesen. Der gegenwärtige Stein
und Backstein-Kirche datiert wahrscheinlich zu den späten 1400. In
den 1600 wurde eine Kapelle hier gebaut, der beträchtlich in den
1800 umgemodelt wurde. In 1608 Peter Gotberg, der Sohn eines
Stargard Goldschmieds, kaufte das Dorf. Er diente im Schwedisch,
Polnisch und Kaiserlichen Deutsche Armeen, und war Kommandant von
Lauenburg, und ducal-Delegierter zum König von Polen. Johann
Gottlieb von Massow wurde der Besitzer von Gross Peterkau in 1802
und entwässerte den Dorf-See in 1804. In 1882 gab es einen
katastrophalen Ernte-Mißerfolg, der 10 örtliche Familien
verursachte, nach Amerika zu emigrieren. Von das Buch: Kashubia,
