HENRY POLSGROVE: Died 1842-FULTON CO, KY-BIOGRAPHY FROM 1784 - 1826
BORN 1784 Pennsylvania
PROOF: 1880 Federal Census, Missouri, Dunklin Co., Union Township: James L. Polsgrove, age 53, born KY, father born Penn., mother born Va. This is definitive and final for me that HENRY was born in Pennsylvania. BUT if any of the sisters of James L. survived until 1880, their census records will either confirm or alter this place of origin. James may have been the only surviving child of Henry by 1880.
1st Mention of Henry in any known record. Age 19

No mention of dates of enrollment or discharge. Cornstalk Brigade was the name of the Kentucky Militia for many years.

Married:
Children
Kate BEADLES b. 1870 Union city, TN
NOTE: William Kendall would have to have died and Alex's first wife did die early
leaving him a widower. This is plausible and needs more research.
1880 FC needs to be searched for all then living CHILDREN of Henry Polsgrove
for confirmation of his place of birth: i.e., James L., which I have,
Sarah Whipple, and any others.
NOTES:
The children of Henry-3, Jacob-2, beginning with Nancy, b. 1811, were born in either Henry or Shelby Co.'s as Henry had left
Pendleton by 1811 (after the 1810FC) and because a descendant of Nancy reported that Nancy was born in Shelby Co.
Hence all Henry's children born between 1811 and 1826 would have been born in either Shelby or Henry Co.
Further clarifications:
Henry left Pendleton Co. between 1810 and 1811 because a descendant of his daughter Nancy says that Nancy was born in Franklin Co., in 1811. This is supported by his name being on the Pendleton Co Delinquent Tax list for 1811. His brother-in-law, Philip Huffman, had left in 1809 for Henry Co and I believe that Henry was the next to follow. Therefore only son John W. was born in Pendleton Co and the rest were born either in Franklin/Henry or in Shelby Co. Henry's son Nathaniel in 1860 FC said he was born in 1817. Since Henry remarried to Nancy Lewis in 1818 in Shelby Co, this means that the birth of Nathaniel may have been the proximate cause of his mother's death.
This also gives us a better opportunity to find out Henry's first wife's name-at least. When we look in the right places, we often find truths and facts we had no idea existed before.
The family of Jacob is spelled out on this website, but there is even more available at the various civic offices in the counties and states where they sojourned to help researchers.
Still looking for descendants of Philip and Margaret (Polsgrove) Huffman, Nathaniel and Catherine (Polsgrove) Brown and John and Mary (Polsgrove) Wilson. While we don't know all their names and vital statistics, we do know that many of them from all three in-laws [Philp Hufman, Nathaniel Brown and John Wilson] also went to Fulton Co from Franklin Co.

DEEDS INVOLVING NANCY (LEWIS) POLSGROVE
In 1845, Abraham Lewis sold his sister Nancy a quarter section of land - SE qtr. Sec 36 T1 R4W,
(the section just south of Henry's orig. land grant).
On 8 Mar 1855, Nancy sold a 100 foot wide strip of this land (ca.80 acres ), for $ 20.00 per acre,
to the Mobile & Ohio R.R., ( my Wm. Henry later worked as a telegraph operator & station agent
at Jordan for this line )
On 26 Oct 1858, A. T. and wife Elizabeth J. Polsgrove, sell their 1/9th interest in this (what is left
of) land, and it states in the deed " on which Nancy Polsgrove now lives "
17 Jan 1859, the 68 acres left of this quarter section, is sold by the "heirs of Henry and Nancy

Churches of Christ
Goodspeed: History of Tennessee, Obion Co: The first congregation of the
Church of Christ was organized October 29, 1848, at the old Republican
Meeting-house, four miles west of Union City, and consisted of the following
members: Willis Caldwell, James Caldwell, Ezekiel Harelson, Isaac E. Caldwell,
William M. Craig, Sarah Caldwell, Harriet E. White, Robert T. Caldwell, John
C. Harris, David P Caldwell, Martha C. Harelson, John K. Skinner, Sophronia
Skinner, George W. Whipple, Harriet Polsgrove, Emiline Polsgrove, George
Polsgrove, Logan Kindle and Mary M. Caldwell. Services were held for a few
years at Republican Meeting-house, after which they were transferred to a
schoolhouse, three miles northwest of the town, and there many were added to
the church. About 1858 a house of worship was erected at Union City, by the
advice and assistance of Rev. H. D. Bantau, the first regular minister.
Prominent among those who had ministered to the spiritual wants of the
congregation previous to this time were Elders James Holmes, G. Hill and ----
Ford.
Prior to the war two other congregations, one at Palestine (Glass) and the
other at Pleasant Hill, had been organized, and within the past few years
congregations have been established at Wilsonville and at Caldwell's, about
two miles north of where the first church was organized. The aggregate
membership of this denomination is now estimated at about 700. Berea Fremont

Columbus, Ky., June 17, 1863
Maj. Gen. H. W. Halleck, General-in-Chief:
Mathew Polograf (sic) [POLSGRAF], a loyal citizen from Fulton, Ky., reports to the commander at Clinton, Ky., that the advance
guard of the rebel General Cheatam had crossed the Obion River not far from Jacksonville, on the Kentucky
and Tennessee State line.
My cavalry scouts out in that direction are expected to return every moment with
full information. I have ordered Captain Edward's battery (L and M), Third U. S. Artillery [consolidated], en
route south, to disembark.
My request to the naval commander at Cairo to station a gunboat temporarily at
Columbus was not complied with. It is of vital importance that a gunboat should be sent to Columbus, and I
respectfully request that one may be ordered here, as my very limited infantry force is not sufficient to insure
the safety of the public stores and depots on the levee.
ASBOTH,
Brigadier-General, Commanding
NOTE: There were several Polsgroves who used the initial M.b but I have found none connected to this Polsgraf.
