Text: KEOUGH, Joseph Andrew ""Joe"" - 74, Queens Manor, Liverpool, Queens Co., formerly of Sydney, Cape Breton, died February 24, 2003, in the manor. It is with great sadness that the family announces his p assing after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born in Whitney Pier and was a son of the late Andrew and Hannah (Ryan) Keough. He was employed with the Sydney Steel Corporation for 3 5 years. Joe was known for his gentle voice and kind heart and was a loving father and husband. He is survived by his sons, Sandy (Shirley), Dartmouth; Pius, Sydney; daughters, Sharon (Earl) Covin, Ha lifax; Margaret (Frank) Horyl, New Waterford; Mary MacDonald (Jamie Mansfield), Liverpool; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lenora Keough, Sydney; Sister Maria Pius, Antigonish; C arol Deleskie, Montreal, Que.; brothers, Pius, Sydney; Daniel (Claire), Sydney; Leo, Ontario. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Annie Mae (MacNeil) in 1978; sister, Harriet; brother, Rusty. Crem ation has taken place. A private memorial service will be held for family members. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney River. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Queens M anor, 171 Holland Dr., Liverpool, N.S. or Canadian Cancer Society. Text: RATCHFORD, Douglas Wilfred - 80, 47 Park St., Truro, died March 10, 1994, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (MacQuarrie) Ratchfor d. He was a stevedore in North Sydney before becoming a harness horse owner, trainer and driver. He raced horses for 16 years at the Sackville Downs Raceway in Sackville and was presently active at th e Truro Raceway. He was a member of the T.H.H.O.A. and the U.S.T.A. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Truro. He is survived by four daughters, Ann (Mrs. Raymond Cantwell), Maud een (Mrs. Lawrence MacDonald), both of Bras d'Or; Susan (Mrs. Danny Romo), Shubenacadie; Avis (Mrs. Daryl Degaust), Windsor Junction; two sons, Paul, North Sydney; Thomas, California; sister, Margare t Vickers, Port Hawkesbury; brother, Donald, Ste. Croix; several grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Fowler; four brothers, Earl, Harold, Rev. Russell, Lorne; two sisters, M ildred, Vivian (Honey). Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight, 2-4 p.m. Saturday in Ettinger-Kennedy Funeral Home, Truro, where prayers will be held 8 p.m. tonight. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sund ay in W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Church, North Sydney, Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Spring burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Syd ney. North Sydney; Maureen, Susan and Avis, all at home; two sons, Paul, North Sydney; and Thomas, Los Ange les, California; four sisters, Mrs. Cymbeline Hamilton; Bessie (Mrs. Percy MacFadden), Jean (Mrs. Donald W.
