Helen or Ellen DINAN or DYNAN arrived from Cork, Ireland, on the Transport
"Lord Wellington," 20 Jan 1820; recorded in the 1823-24 General Muster of
N.S.W. as housekeeper to David HENNESSY at Parramatta; & in the 1828 Census of
N.S.W., as housekeeper to Mr MYERS, Evans.
Ellen had a daughter, Mary KINILA, who arrived Free with her mother on the Lord
Wellington, but my notes aren't entirely clear as to which records the daughter
actually appeared in.
I suspect something dodgy about the name KINILA, & suspect it may have been a
corruption of something like KINSELA.
It also suggests that Ellen, being Irish and a convict, may have been the Roman
Catholic, & if so, a separate Catholic burial for the son would have been
appropriate. But the two deaths apparently so close together sounds a bit
suspicious.
