Seine Seele sei eingebunden in das Bündel des Lebens
Kommentar: Alex Weissfeld, wie der ältere Bruder Adolf (C 11, gest. 1915) in
Zempelburg/Westpreussen
geboren, war zunächst Teilhaber, nach dem Tod des Bruders alleiniger
Inhaber des Konfektionsgeschäftes Gebr.
Weißfeldt, Kaiserstr. 157. Am 1. Oktober 1938 ging die Herren- und
Knabenkleidung führende Firma Weißfeldt
auf Heinz und Käthe Kuschwart über (Berg. Wirtschaft Nr. 20/1988). Alex
Weissfeld wohnte mit Ehefrau Paula
Gompertz und Sohn Lothar auf der Kaiserstr. 165. Seine Frau Paula wurde am
3.12.1884 als Tochter von Leopold
Alexander Gompertz und Emma geb. Kempenich in Emmerich geboren (vgl. Juden
in Emmerich, S. 256). Sie
gehörte zu den ersten Deportierten, die am 26. Oktober 1941 nach
Litzmannstadt verschleppt wurden (Ve 44-5).
Sie blieb verschollen. Der Sohn Lothar (geb. 10.6.1913 in Solingen),
studierte 1937 in Prag und emigrierte 1939
nach England (HStAD, RW 58-45936). Alex Weissfeld, der im Jüdischen
Krankenhaus in Köln-Ehrenfeld
verstarb, "war Frontkämpfer des Weltkrieges und Inhaber des Eisernen
Kreuzes II. Klasse. Er war lange Jahre
Repräsentant der hiesigen Synagogen-Gemeinde und Vorsitzender der
Chewre-Keduscha [Kranken- und
Beerdigungsbruderschaft] und bekannt als religiöser und wohltätiger Mann.
[Hebr.:] Das Andenken des
Gerechten zum Segen. (Beerdigungsregister). Sein Bruder Adolf Weissfeld ist
auf der Gedenktafel 1914-1918
verzeichnet.

From Source 28: "Helen Waters died instantly from a gun-shot wound (Murder) on
13 June, 1878, at Shorehead, St. Andrews, and was buried on 15 June, 1878 at
the Cathedral Burial Ground, St. Andrews, in Section 'C', Row 11, Lair 17, at a
depth of 5 feet. She was 43 years old. William McDonald was hanged by the
Common Executioner under the Death Warrent by the Honorable Lord Mure for the
murder of his wife on Thursday, 3 October, 1878, at Cupar Prison, Fife, and was
buried near the East Wall within the Prison ground.

It is note worthy to mention that the murder of Helen Waters, and the execution
of her husband, William McDonald, were well reported within the Dundee Courier
& Advertiser and the St. Andrews Citizen between 14 June, 1878, and 10 October,
1878."

Source 29:"St Andrews Citizen, 4th January 1957:
Mr & Mrs Lindsay Cunningham, 28 North Street, members of old St Andrews
families, had their fiftieth wedding anniversary last Friday marred by illness
which compelled Mrs Cunningham to enter the Cottage Hospital three days before.
They were married at the Royal George on 27th December, 1907, by the Rev. P M
Playfair, Holy Trinity Church. Mr Cunningham, who is 83 years of age, is one of
the last remaining fishermen of St Andrews. At the date of his wedding he was
one of more than a hundred men who kept the harbour busy with line and seine
net boats. For a time he also worked on the mussel beds at the River Eden. He
has resided in his present home for fully seventy years. Mrs Cunningham is 70
years of age and is also a member of an old St Andrews family. Her brother, who
was best man at the wedding, now resides in Ireland. The couple have one son,
who is unmarried, and a painter in St Andrews, and a daughter. She is Mrs
Phillips, the wife of Air Ministry Civilian Personnel Manager for
the USAF at Prestwick. There is one grand-daughter."
