Appleyard, Joshua

Eldest son of Joshua Appleyard.

He was Mayor of Halifax [1853-1856] Children: a daughter who became Mrs
Williams of Moor Park, Harrogate and gave £5000 for the creation of the Joshua
Appleyard Ward at the Royal Halifax Infirmary.

He was one of the Trustees appointed under the Halifax Improvement Act [1823].
After Robert Parker's death in 1856, Appleyard leased Clare Hall, Halifax and
lived there until his death.

He was Vice Chairman of the Halifax Joint Stock Banking Company. His nephew,
Gerbacio Protacio Appleyard, succeeded him.

He was Deputy Lieutenant for the West Riding.
