Michael Manley, Father of 14, Dies in West Scranton
Michael W. Manley, a lifelong resident of this city
and an employee of the Lackawanna Railroad for 30 years, died yesterday
at his home, 510 Meridian Avenue, after a long illness. Mr. Manley was
born in South Scranton and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Manley,
the latter a foreman in the Lackawanna Iron and Steel Company. Mr. Manley
was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, Holy Cross Church
and Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, and 14 children: Mrs. Cyril
Rainey, Mrs. James O’Boyle, Mrs. George Wargo; the Misses Helen,
Anetta, Irene, Betty, Agnes, and Dorothy; Aloysius, Frank, Joseph, William
and James; two brothers, Thomas, Scranton, and Frank, Wilmington, Del.,
two sisters, Katherine Manley, Buffalo, and Mrs. Henry Joint, Lackawanna,
N. Y., and six grandchildren. Arrangements by John Durkan.
