Mrs. Barrett Dies; Aunt of Priests
Mrs. Mary A. Barrett, 518 New York St., died Saturday night in Mercy Hospital after an illness. She was admitted to the hospital Wednesday as a medical patient. Born in North Scranton, daughter of the late Richard and Anna Clifford Gallagher, she resided in the Green Ridge section 45 years. She was the widow of William S. Barrett who died in 1960. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Saville and Mrs. John Manley, this city; Mrs. Joseph Cooney, Cedar Grove, N. J.; two sons, William A., an employee of the Internal Revenue Service, this city; Paul J., Passadena, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Charles Collins, Wilkes-Barre; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Rev. James C. Timlin, assistant pastor of St. Peter’s Cathedral; Rev. Girard M. Gannon, professor of religion at Marywood College; Msgr. Frank McHugh, pastor of the Annunciation Church, Williamsport; Rev. Joseph Barrett, pastor of St. Catherine’s Church, Moscow, and Rev. Francis Barrett, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Friendsville.
