Mrs. Mary Coleman, one of the oldest residents of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Manley, early yesterday morning. Mrs. Coleman settled in Scranton when it was but a village and lived here ever since. She was born in the parish of McGownach [Moygownagh], County Mayo, Ireland. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Manley, Michael Coleman, and Mrs. [James] Murphy of Omaha, Neb., and about twenty grandchildren and also several great grandchildren. Funeral Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock, mass at St. John’s church.

Death of Mrs. Mary Coleman
The end of the long and respected life of Mrs. Mary Coleman occurred yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Manley, of Beech street. Deceased had been afflicted for a year with rheumatism, but not until a week ago was her sickness thought dangerous. Besides her daughter, with whom she lived, she was the mother of Michel Coleman and of Mrs. James Murphy, of Omaha, Neb. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock with a high mass of requiem at St. John’s church. Interment will be made in Hyde Park Catholic cemetery.
