William Barrett Funeral Friday
Funeral services will be held Friday for William S. Barrett, 518 New York St., father of William A. Barrett, chief of the Administration Division, Scranton District, Internal Revenue Service, who died Monday night in Mercy Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 10. The funeral will be from the Regan Funeral Home, 329 West Market St., with mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church and interment in Cathedral Cemetery. Born in North Scranton, son of the late William A. and Mary McHugh Barrett, he had lived in the Green Ridge section for 50 years. A member of St. Paul’s Church, and its Holy Name Society, he was employed at Samter Brothers Department Store prior to his retirement five years ago. He and his wife, the former Mary Gallagher of North Scranton, marked their 53rd wedding anniversary last April. Surviving in addition to his wife and son are three daughters, Mrs. James A. Saville, this city; Mrs. Joseph Cooney, Cedar Grove, N.J., and Mrs. John Manley, this city; another son, Paul J., Passadena, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Nealon and Belinda and Nellie Barrett, both of this city; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including the Rev. Joseph A. Barrett, Dushore, and the Rev. Francis Barrett, Stroudsburg.
