Last Rites For W. H. Burkett
    William H. Burkett, 84, Merril, Ia., a resident of Plymouth county for 60 years, died last week Friday in a nursing home after a brief illness.
    He was born April 8, 1872, in Aledo, Ill., and he went to Perry, IA., as a child, later moving to Plymouth county.  He retired in 1938.     Suvivors include the widow, Josephine; two sons, J. H. BURKETT of Sioux City, and Albert of Tenafly, N. J.; a daughter, Mrs. Josphine KELM of Morgan, Mich.; six granchildren; a brother, Lowell of Grand Junction, Ia. and a sister, Mrs. Margaret CLARK of Harian, Ia.
    Services were held at 1: 30 p.m. Monday in the Nelson - Berger north side chapel at Sioux City.
    Burial was in Liberty township cemetery.    May 1956

    Funeral services for Mrs. Josphine F. BURKETT, 88, route 2, Merrill, who died last week Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Nelson - Berger north side funeral home.  Rev. V. T. Trahms of Faith Luthern church officiated.  Burial was in Liberty township cemetery.
    Pallbearers were George KOVARNA, Harry KOVARNA, Roy LABAHN, Harold LABAHN, Robert KELLETT, and Bernard KELLEY.
    Mrs. Burkett was born June 20, 1973, near Vienna, Austria, and she came to America in infancy.   She resided most of her life in Plymouth county.
    Mrs. Burkett was married in February of 1898 to William H. BURKETT in Merrill.  He died May 18, 1956, in Sioux City,  Survivors include two sons, James H. of Merrill and Albert of Tenafly, N. J.; a daughter, Mrs. Josephine KELM of Morgan , Minn.; six grandchildren and a great granchild.    Oct 1960
