Maybelle BERGER
    Miss Maybelle BERGER died at her home in Liberty township Friday, April 4, 1903, of Pneumonia. The decessed was born and reared in Liberty township and during her short stay in earth had made many warm friends who will mourn her departure.
    The funeral services were hled in the church at Potosia Sunday afternoon April 26, at 2 o'clock by Rev. CHEW and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery west of the church.  She leaves a loving father and mother, 3 brothers and 3 sisters to mourn her loss.
    Pallbearers were the misses Anna TOPPINS, Anna DONAVAN, Anrelia ARENDT, May RAINSATHEM, Mabel CROUCH and Josie ARENDT.    April 1903


Death Takes Old Settler Mrs. Rebecca BERGER
    Mrs. Rebecca Berger, a pioneer of Plymouth county and for many years a resident of Perry township, died Friday at her home, 122 Myrtle Street, Sioux City, at the age of 71 years.
    Mrs. Berger was born at Evansville, Ind., and as a girl her parents moved to Nebraska.  She came to Iowa from Allen, Neb., to Sioux City in 1869, and later moved to Plymouth county where she lived for may years and of late years lived in Sioux City.
    She was married May 2, 1882, to Jacob Berger.  She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church.
    Surviving are her husband, three sons, George, William and Walter BERGER of Hinton; three daughters, Mrs. David MARCH, of White River, S.D., Mrs. Clyde BROWN of Hinton, Mrs.and Mrs. Wesley BROWN of Merrill; three sisters, Mrs. William BEAGLEY and Mrs. W. H. HARPER, both of Sioux City, and Elizabeth SLADE of Astoria, Ore.; two brothers, Joseph ATKIN of Siouc City, and Thomas ATKIN of South Sioux City, Neb., and twelve grand children.
    Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the St. Paul's Episcopal church in Sioux City, Rev. E. H. GAYNOR, officiating.  Interment was made in the Liberty township cemetery.    1930


Was Former County Resident George BERGER
    George Berger, 90, 1901 Villa Ave. Sioux City, died at his home last Saturaday, Nov. 24, of a sudden illiness.
    Mr. BERGER was born March 9, 1883, in Liberty township,Plymouth county, Iowa.  He married the former MArgaret M. Beaulieu on Aug. 24, 1922 in Sioux City.  He farmed until 1949 when the couple moved to Sioux City.  He was a member of the Methodist faith.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Sioux City with Rev. Wallace A. STARKE, pastore of Whitfield Methodist church officiating.  Burial was in Liberty township cemtery.
    Pallbearers were Franklin and Wilfred HENRICH, Norman KLAGGE, Tom FLANNERY, Bill BEAULIEU, and William J BERGER
    Sruvivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Earl ( Ruth ) CHAUSSEE of McCaook Lake, S.D.; a brother, William of Marcus; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.    March 1973


Margaret M. BERGER
    Margaret M. BERGER, 84, 1301 Villa Ave., retired nurse's aid, died Friday, Jan. 29 in a Sioux City hospital after a long illiness.
    Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Christy Westside Funeral home with the Rev. Larry WIMMER of Whitfield United Methodist church officiating.  Burial was in Liberty township cenetery.
    Mrs. Berger, the former Margaret BEAULIEU, was born Uag. 24, 1903 in Springfield, Ill.  She married George BERGER in 1922 in Sioux City.  The couple farmed in Plymouth county prior ro moving to Sioux City.  She was a nurse's aid at the former St. Joseph's hospital and them worked for Younkers department store, retiring 26 years ago.
    Mrs. BERGER was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Ruth CHAUSSEE of Sioux City; three brothers, Edwin and Tom, both of Plymouth ounty and Lloyd of Minnesota; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.    Feb. 1988
