About the Association

The Platt Family Association was organized in Milford, Connecticut in 1981 to gather and preserve family history information regarding the Descendants of Richard Platt, born at Ware, Herts., England, and coming to Milford, CT in 1639.

Thomas Platt lived in Burlington, NJ by 1712 and was once conjectured to have been a descendant of Richard Platt of Milford, CT. Recent DNA testing on known descendants of both shows no connection.

The Association holds its annual meeting in July, generally in Milford, CT.


28th Annual Platt Family Reunion - 2009

We will again be joining the Botsford Family Historical Association for our reunion next summer. This arrangement worked so well last summer that we agreed to try it for another year. Both of our associations have been experiencing declining attendance, so this made sense. We can combine on a program and luncheon expenses.

The reunion will be held on the third Saturday, 18 July 2009, so put the date on your calendars now. The location will be the Botsford Family Homestead at the corner of Gunn Street and Ford Street in Milford. The Homestead is owned by the Botsfords and is maintained as a family museum. It is a Greek Revival house, built about 1830 and has many family antiques.

President Richard N. "Dick" Platt, Jr. works on this project as he is able. Dick, who is the Town Historian of Milford, is also involved in civic preservation efforts.
