About
the Association
The Platt Family Association was organized in Milford, Connecticut in 1981 to gather and preserve family history information regarding the Descendants of Richard Platt, born at Ware, Herts., England, and coming to Milford, CT in 1639.
Thomas Platt lived in Burlington, NJ by 1712 and was once conjectured to have been a descendant of Richard Platt
of Milford, CT. Recent DNA testing on known descendants of both shows no connection.
The Association holds its annual meeting in July, generally in Milford, CT.

31st ANNUAL REUNION COMING UP!
July 2O-21
We will again meet in a joint reunion with the Botsford Family Historical Association the weekend of 20-21 July. This has been a good arrangement for both of our associations because of declining attendance at both reunions in recent years. This way we
can share a meal and a program. In addition, some of us are members of both associations, so this is a way to attend two reunions in one. Last summer, the Platts actually outnumbered the Botsfords, although it was close.
The Botsfords have been in existence much longer as an association, having started annual get-togethers in 1905. We Platts started in 1982. The Botsfords own a homestead which they maintain as a family museum. There is a good-sized back yard where we pitch a large tent and have our meetings and luncheon there.
Plans for the reunion are still not finalized, but we have been discussing various possibilities. We may decide to have our lunch at a local restaurant instead of having a catered affair as in recent years. We are also discussing an extended bus trip through Milford, visiting sites related to each family and to Milford’s history. In particular,
we will visit the old Milford Cemetery, the Memorial Bridge, and possibly the Milford Historical Society and/or Lauralton Hall.
See the June Newsletter for final details.
