December 1998, Vol 16, p32

We recently came across a book entitled Smithsonian Visual Timelline of Inventions, by Richard Platt, 1994. The dust jacket has a picture of the author and says "Richard Platt has written and edited books on a variety of topics, from ornithology to photography. Most notably, he wrote the international best-seller Stephen Biesty's Incredible Cross Sections, which has almost one million copies in print." We asked about him on the e-mail list and found that he appears to be British and has written on a variety of subjects. Does anyone know more about him?
