Mary Harlan Perez, Folsom, CA, <bpfister@pacbell.net> and Susan Platt, Lilburn, GA, <platta@mindspring.com>, have  both added new information on the the "James of Vermont" line, designated "JV" in the Richard Platt 1963 Genealogy, p 351.  Mary's great-grandmother is Carrie Louise Platt Martin Harding (1856?-1923), daughter of Daniel, (JV-113).  She is listed as 4 years old in the 1860 VT census with James (69) and Louisa (53).  This James is probably James H (JV-11).  Susan has located the death certificate of James at Swanton, VT, giving the date of death as 20 Apr 1873, age 82y, 5m,and 1d,  which would give a birth date of about 19 Nov 1790.  His father is listed as Henry Platt and mother as Catherine Ball.  Can anyone find a Platt connection for Henry? And, do Jehu (JV-12) and Nathan (JV-13) belong in this family?

An obit appeared on one of the RootsWeb 3-mail lists, from the Verden (OK) News and dated 24 Mar 1944.  Columbus W Platt was born 30 May 1866 in Arkansas and died in Verden, OK 19 Mar 1944, at age 77.  His wife was Samantha Cypert, married 11 Jul 1895, and they had 16 children, 9 of whom survived him.  The surviving children were daughters Mrs Myrtle Dirickson of Verden, Mrs Irene Norton of Oklahoma City, Mrs Pauline Weiner of Los Angeles; and sons, Troy of Marysville, CA; Roy of Centerville, CA; Robert of Richmond, CA; Carris of Oklahoma City; Ferris of Verden, and Ernest of the US Army in Ireland. Does anyone know his Platt connection?

A note appeared on the e-mail list, NYNASSAU-L, posting articles from the Queens County Sentinel, 25 Feb 1892. Among them was:
Married: PLATT-EVERITT - Hempstead, Thursday, Feb 18th at the residence of the bride's mother, Fulton Street, by the Rev Dr Moore and Rev J A Davis, Miss Isabelle, daughter of Mrs and the late Charles H Everitt, to William Edgar Platt, of Brooklyn.
Does anyone know his connection?

Max Riekse, Fruitport, MI, <rrtibet1@aol.com>, is still looking for the location of the sword, commission, and final resting place (grave) of Major Richard6 Platt (Richard #132-112) (1755-c3 Mar 1830).  He served in the Continental Line from New York from 1775 (Canada) to the Yorktown surrender in 1781.  He was an aide-de-camp and also Deputy Quartermaster-General of the Main Army under Gen George Washington  at Yorktown.  He most likely died  in the state of New York (the Richard Platt Genealogy says New York, NY)
