[Note: this is the same query as that submitted by Denny Fiala. There were several Phoebe Platts living in Huntington at this time. Has anyone sorted them out by family?] (see notes)
Glady M Scott, Northville, MI, has found new information on her Melora Platt query (see Vol 14, p 6 and p13). She now seeks information on John Platt, b. unk., m. Sarah --- and had son James, b 1776 in CT. John removed when Sarah died. His 2nd wife's name is not know, but children by her are Levi, Homer, Melora (b. 1787), Ophelia, and Aphia. Melora d. abt 1867 Dundee, Monroe Co., MI; m. Wing Irish. They lived and raised family in Peru, Clinton Co, NY. He was in War of 1812. Their dau. Janet Elton of the Botsford Family Association has sent the following from the Waterbury Republican: "Mr. and Mrs. Leon W. Banks of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Bethlehem [CT], celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a family gathering. The couple married Jan. 1, 1933 in Morris [CT]. They have four children, Barbara Gangloff of Sarasota, FL, Stewart Banks of Reynoldsburg, OH, Arthur Banks of New Preston [CT[ and Donald Banks of Bethlehem, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Banks is the former Myrtle E. Platt." Does anyone know her Platt connection?
Karen Platte, Vienna, VA 22181, e-mail KPlattZZZ @aol.com, traces back to Jonathan Platt (#121-1 in the Thomas of Burlington book). Charles Platt, Jr. conjectured that Jonathan was son of Abel Platt (#121), but Karen indicates that he may have been son of John Platt (or Platts) and Sarah Hale of Lower Boxford, CT. [Note: this is probably Boxford, MA.] If this is so, can anyone identify John Platt(s) and Sarah Hale? This is probably the Platts family of Rowley, MA; Boxford, MA is close by.
