• lived: Hood River, Oregan. 1 Early in 1881, they went to New Mexico where he continued in his freight business. After about a year, they decided to sell the freight outfit and travel to the Northwest to Washington Territory. More than three month after starting their journey, they reached Hood River, Oregan. They bought a squatter's claim on Mitchell's point near the Columbia River.
