Inez Opal Owens, 79, former resident of Sedan, Kansas, died Thursday, March 7, 1996, at her home in Thayer, Kansas. She was born December 25, 1916, in Peru, Kansas to William and Atcha (Robinson) Vanderhoof. She was a retired Hospital Ward Clerk and Resturant owner. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
On December 25, 1932 she and William Elbert Dilley were united in marriage, in Sedan, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1969. She then was married to Japeth H. Owens in 1972, in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Dilley and Don Dilley, both of Sedan, Kansas, one daughter, Geraldine Gardner of Thayer, Kansas, four sisters, Ada Mills, Edith Spire, and June Doty, all of Sedan Kansas, and Ruth Call of Cedar Vale, Kansas; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, 1996, at 2:00 P.M., in the Graves-Baird Chapel, Sedan, Kansas. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan, Kansas. Rev. Dois Nix officiated. Graves-Baird Funeral Home, Sedan, was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials in her name have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the Arthritis Foundation.
