REF: Malcolm Walker and Ed Russell (12/31/1999)

Von is buried in the Evans Cemetery right next to his wife Jane. There is no marker for his grave. Ed Russell told a story that he and Von were clearing the land where Evans Cemetery is now and Von sat down to rest next to a Dogwood tree "about as big around as your thumb". Von said to Ed, "Ed let's save this bush, I'd like to be buried right here". Ed thought he was kidding but Von looked at him and said. " I ain't kidding this time". The Dogwood tree is now huge and overlooks a beautiful valley as you look north toward Powell Valley.
