Pierre Philippon dit Picard

Added Apr 29, 2000
Edited Aug 22, 2000
Expanded Feb 08, 2004

I had Pierre in my database as just Philippon, being unaware of his dit name of Picard. During a search of the Pioneer files at Programme de recherche en démographie historique (PRDH), I found him as Philippon dit Picard. At PRDH, it appears some of his descendents continued the use of Philippon dit Picard. At PRDH, there were Philippon's by the names of Joseph,Yves, Marie Angelique, Marie Anne, Marie Madeleine, Marie Georges, Marie Georgina, Marie Georgette, and Marie Louise, but I have not researched this family enough to know where they fit in expect as identified in Rene Jette's Dictionnaire généalogique des familles du Québec : des origines à 1730 (Jetté). Data also comes from l'Abbe Cyprien Tanguay's Dictionnaire généalogique des familles canadiennes depuis la fondation de la colonie jusqu'à nos jours (Tanguay), and the Institut généalogique Drouin's Répertoire alphabétique des mariages des Canadiens français, 1760-1935 (Blue Drouin); Répertoire alphabétique des mariages des Canadiens français, 1760-1935 : ordre féminin (Blue Drouin - feminin); and Dictionnaire national des Canadiens français, 1608-1760 (Red Drouin) as posted by Best Bill of the Quebec-Research-L mailing list. In addition, some marriages come from a variety of marriage repetoires used by members of the QUebec-Research-L mailing list.
