During the summer of 2004, I subscribed to the PRDH, and worked through the first three generations of the Destroismaisons dit Picard family in Quebec... that of Philippe the immigrant, his children and his grandchildren. This work greatly expanded the 3rd generation, as well as adding much to the 4th generation. A few corrections and additions were made to the 2nd generation as well.

You will notice that I have changed the primary surname to "Destroismaisons" for this family for the first 4 generations. All records contained in PRDH for Philippe Destroismaisons, the immigrant, soley show the surname "Destroismaisons". It is not until the 1700's that you begin to see the recording of "Destroismaisons dit Picard" for some of his children. There is a bit more use in the 3rd generation's records. Only a a rare occassion where any of these three generations recorded soley as "Picard"; however, the use of "Picard" increases in the later portion of the 1700's. This is not to say that they didn't use the full "Destroismaisons dit Picard"; it is only a reflection of how their names were recorded by the Church and notaries. Other records, including land transactions and other types of notary records have not been studied yet.

Due to the nature of PRDH, where family records only list children born up to 1766, and couple records that only list children married before 1800, the 4th generation is definetely incomplete. This has also limited in part the younger children of the 3rd generation, too. Vital records for other children may exist in PRDH, but at this point they remain elusive. Eventually I hope to view every Destroismaison and Picard record in PRDH... but that will be time consuming.

The results of this work is displayed in a completely revised 4 generation family outline. The 3 generation Descendency Report has also been completely revised. At first, I considered highlighting all the changes, but this became an undaunting task by highlighting the changes in red, but huge portions would be all red with all the additions. I know this means that most people may have to work through the entire new outline to verify it with their own data.

PLEASE NOTE: because of the way Family Tree Make (FTW) converts dates into ranges in it's outline format, these year ranges should only be considered as a guide. For example, if my database has a death "bef May 5, 1973", it will convert it to 1973 in the outline, dropping the "before".

Thanks
Ellen
