Loving Husband Dad & "Papa" Age 64, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 28, 2005 at The Pillars of Oakdale after a two year battle with cancer. Jerry is survived by loving wife of 38 years, Sharon; children Doug(Jill) of Greer, SC, Jerry (Brenda) of East Bethel, Jeff (Jennifer) of Cottage Grove, and daughter Kari (Edmund) Farnham of St. Mary's Point; grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Rachel, Johanna, Shane, Austin, Jarrett, and Kelsey; sisters, Carol Wendel and Sharon (Joe) Valento of St. Paul; and many nieces and one nephew. Jerry retired from Taystee Bread and Knowlan/ Festival Supermarkets Jerry's life revolved around his grandkids. A Special Thank You to the loving care givers of The Pillars Hospice Home in Oakdale. A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2005 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to service at church. Judith Ann, the daughter of Armond and Helen (Olsen) Hanson, was born May 13, 1944, in Faribault. On March 23, 1963, she married Thomas Allyn Kotnour at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. She was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church and also had a special affiliation with First English Lutheran Church. Judy worked as a nurse’s aide at Haven Homes in Hastings and in a nursing home in Woodbury. She was very active in the Faribault community serving the elderly and volunteering at the River Bend Nature Center. She loved gardening, stained glass and spending time with her family. She was a very loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Faribault; three children, Mike Kotnour of Watertown, Wis., Tim (and Peggy) Kotnour of Rapid City, S.D., and Heidi Kotnour of Hudson, Wis.; four grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Dylan and Tyler Kotnour; a brother, Harlan (and Kathy) Hanson of Faribault; a sister, Juanita (and Dale) Neumann of Faribault; and several nieces, nephews and friends. FARIBAULT -- Thomas J. Kotnour, 83, of Faribault, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Immaculate Conception, Faribault. Interment will be at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Rollingstone at noon Wednesday. Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Thomas John Kotnour, the son of Frank and Mary (Soukup) Kotnour, was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Winona. He graduated from Winona High School and St. Paul Vocational School. He served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Maxine Herber on May 11, 1944 in Rollingstone. He worked with sheet metal construction in St. Paul, Rochester, and Winona. The couple had lived in St. Paul and St. Charles before moving to Faribault in 1959. He worked for a number of years with sheet metal and heating maintenance at the Faribault state schools, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889, Knights of Columbus; American Legion Post 43; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Kotnour of Faribault; two sons, Tom (and Judy) Kotnour of Faribault, and Paul (and Pat) Kotnour of Cottage Grove; a daughter, Mary Kotnour of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Karl, in 1950; a sister, Helen Valentine; and a brother, Frank Kotnour.
FARIBAULT -- Maxine (Mrs. Thomas) Kotnour, age 85, of Faribault, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 18, 2005, at 5 p.m. from the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at Immaculate Conception in Faribault, with Fr. Thomas Joseph, associate pastor, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 19 from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, followed by a funeral service at 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Rollingstone. Arrangements are being completed with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault. Maxine Annette Herber, the daughter of Alvin J. and Margaret (Feil) Herber, was born on Sept. 7, 1919, in Rollingstone, Minn. She was raised in Rollingstone and attended Dickinson North Dakota Teacher's College and Winona Business College. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Kotnour on May 11, 1944, in Rollingstone. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2003. They had lived in St. Paul , St. Charles and Faribault. Maxine worked part time at JC Penny's, F.W. Woolworth and the Clothes Closet in Faribault. She also was active as a volunteer for Immaculate Conception Church , enjoyed playing cards and gardening. She is survived by three children, Paul (and Pat) Kotnour of Cottage Grove, Tom Kotnour of Faribault and Mary Kotnour of Rio Rico, Ariz.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Prosper (and Corinne) Herber of California, Ralph (and Dorothy) Herber and Harold (and Marlene) Herber, both of Rollingstone; two sisters, Kathleen (and Herby) Speltz of Rollingstone and Harriette Duffy of Winona; and by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; infant son, Karl in 1950; father in 1977; mother in 1985; and by a daughter-in-law, Judy Kotnour in 2004.

She preceded him in death on August 3, 2004. Tom graduated after attending both Faribault Senior High School and Bethlehem Academy in 1963. He received degrees from University of Minnesota in 1967 and University of Idaho in 1972. Tom was employed by DuPont in Chattanooga, TN and later at 3M in St. Paul. He retired in 2001 as a Division Scientist. He loved River Bend Nature Center and the Faribault Senior Citizen Center. His hobbies included gardening, reading and traveling with Judy. He is survived by his three children, Mike (and Charlotte) Kotnour and Tim (and Peggy) Kotnour all of Rapid City, SD, Heidi (and Jeff) Nelson of Hudson, WI; six grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Dylan, Tyler, Aly Kotnour and Owen Nelson; two siblings, Paul (and Pat) Kotnour of Woodbury and Mary Kotnour of Phoenix, AZ; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy and his parents.

2. 2004; “… Earlier on Thursday, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers kept busy working slide-off accidents and non-injury accidents Thursday. By late Thursday afternoon, troopers had worked one injury accident. In Franklin County, five people were injured at 3:05 a.m. when their Dodge van slid off Interstate 35 near the Homewood exit, entered the median and rolled, an accident report said.
Four of the five occupants of the vehicle were taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, where a hospital spokeswoman said they were treated and released. The patrol identified the victims as Rodney Emil Butler, 54, of Cannon Falls, Minn., who had been driving; and passengers Lorraine Annamae Butler, 83, of Aitken, Minn.; Wendy L. Butler, 53, of Cannon Falls, Minn.; and Randy Butler, 44, of Brooklyn Park, Minn.” (Topeka Capital Journal, 6 Feb 2004)

3. Obit: Rodney Emil Butler 1949-2010 Rodney Emil Butler, of Cannon Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday morning, Oct. 26, 2010. Rodney Butler, son of Emil J. and Lorraine (Cain) Butler, was born Aug. 18, 1949, in Owatonna, Minn. Rodney was a graduate of the Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca and the Vocational Tech School in Austin. He became Mr. Fix-it, both in his work and his hobbies. Rodney met Wendy Schrader, and they were married on Nov. 3, 1973, at the First Congregational Church in Northfield. Rodney and Wendy moved from West Concord to Sebeka before settling in Cannon Falls. He was known as a “Jack of all Trades” and enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rodney is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wendy; sons, Blake (Angela) Butler and Blaine (Melony) Butler; daughter, Brooke Butler (Larry Tschritter); brothers, Perry Butler, Roger Butler, Dalen (Jolene) Butler, Danny (Tonya) Butler, Steven (Espie) Butler, Randy (Sonja) Butler and Brian (Vicki) Butler; sisters, Mona (Mick) McMartin, Lorraine (Paul) Mueller, Veletta (Todd) Gartner and Rhonda (Rick) Egan; grandchildren, Cody (Cheyenne), Mitchell (Brianna), Michael, Preston, Jonathan, Jaxyn, Kamrynn, Keela, Kayden, Kyler and Kenley; great-grandchildren, Naveya, Amya, Lyvia and Madyson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lorraine; brother, Loren; sister, Penny; and nephews, Matthew and William. Visitation will be on Friday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour prior to services at church.
