He married Beatrice Lola Perry on 24 Dec 1901 in Antioch, Jasper, Mississippi. Beatrice Lola Perry was born 18 Dec 1883 in Mt. Pisgah, Jasper, Mississippi and died 29 Sep 1926 in Ogden, Weber, Utah. She is buried in the North Ogden City Cemetery, North Ogden, Utah. [note: Andrew Lee Brady, a master mechanic by trade, worked on the big skidding machines with which the lumber companies dragged the giant yellow pine of the South from their native hillsides down to the improvised railroads. Although he never went to school to speak of, he was a natural mechanic. He worked in the forests of Jasper County, Miss; then went to the town of Philadelphia, Miss; for a number of years. Later he moved back to the old home locality. For a while he worked in the woods of Pearl River County and in the splendid forests of Louisiana, near Longville. In 1914 he was taken sick with an acute case of appendicitis and was rushed to the hospital at Meridian, where for days he hovered between life and death. Appendicitis was a thing of dread in those days. He finally recovered due to the splendid physic and strong constitution he possessed, he was exceptionally strong and robust. At this time his weight was about 165 lbs. After the operation he soon gained weight and averaged about 190 lbs., but due to his large frame and six feet of height it only added to his good appearance. During this period he was working away from home all week and on Saturday noon he would hire a horse from the "Livery-Stable" and ride the ten to fifteen miles home, where his family so anxiously awaited his coming, for it was a big treat for us children to see our 'Papa' come home again. He was very devoted to his family and friends, a good provider and a kind and generous father. He loved to romp and play with his children and I can well remember many happy hours when he would play he was our 'mule' and her grand old name was 'Maud' he would say and proceed to 'buck' us off his back. On the 3rd of May 1916 while making an inspection of the side drum of the 'skidder' he had charge of, the drummer, (the man who runs the drum which pulled the log in) although he had been told to watch out for my father, pulled a log in, and in decking it, (pulling it around parallel with the R.R. track) he gave it too big of a pull, and it rolled down on my father who due to a great amount of noise made by the other drums in action, and motors of the machine, did not see the log in time to get out of the way. It crushed him between it and the side of the skidder. They rushed him to the hospital at Laurel, but it was too much, only his iron nerve and superb physical stature kept the spark of life in him those three days he lingered. His watch which he wore in the bib of his overalls, over his chest, was left to me, a silent witness of the power of the blow he received as the outside case is dented in the middle and the crystal was smashed. Lola Beatrice Perry, was a good wife to my father and a good mother to us his children, always taking care of everything while he was away from home with his work. Then when he was so suddenly and cruelly snatched from her, she could not be satisfied until the 'sealing-ordinance' was performed which would make them man and wife throughout all eternity. Accordingly as soon as she received the 'Holy-endowment' and had her husband and children sealed for all time as a family group, and Eternity, she then returned to our home in the South, Louin, Jasper County, Mississippi; but it never seemed the same again, so the following year she sold out and came to Zion to live. She settled in North Ogden, Weber County, Utah, staying for a while with the family of Charles A. Jones, whose son Andrew was then on a mission in the south. The Jones family treated us very good and we soon learned to love the people of the community and this family. They made us feel right at home among them. For nine short years my mother lived among these kind people and than she too was called home, having suffered from a fall on the ice in the winter of 1925 which injured her spine, which later caused spinal meningitis, from which she died on the 29th of September 1926, leaving a family of two boys and two girls, and four grandchildren. My brother Burl Pierce, having passed on to his reward on the 27th of November 1922, after a lingering illness of Brights disease and a weak heart caused by the disease. He was a very intelligent boy and gave promise of a very bright future, a willing worker and well liked by all who knew him.
